5 Easy Ways to Elevate a Space

1. Choose the right colors

When figuring out how to decorate a space, sometimes the best way to start is by identifying which colors you want to display. Choosing colors that align with a certain aesthetic, or your own, can get you started on the right path. There can be a lot of “inspiration” online so bring a couple of options to your interior designer and let them help you refine your vision. Sometimes it can be as simple as adding a pop of color to change how an area looks. Other times you may need to start fresh by creating a new color palette to help you get organized and make the process less challenging.

2. Utilize lighting

Adding some extra light to a space not only brightens the mood of the room but can also make it feel more open. Natural lighting can go a long way but if you are lacking windows or sunlight in a certain space, there are plenty of alternatives. Lamps and custom ceiling lights are a great way to bring in some extra light. On top of that, lighting can serve as a unique statement piece that will make your space stand out. Some of our favorite brands include Arteriors, Corbett Lighting, Generation Lighting, Kalco, and Uttermost for unique lighting fixtures that will elevate any space.

3. Pick out statement pieces

It can be hard to select the perfect items to place in a space. With different furniture, pillows, throws, rugs, and curtains all being taken into consideration, decorating can be overwhelming. An easy way to start making selections is by sticking with your chosen color palette. After that, you can start playing around with fabrics and textures. Adding in a rug or window coverings is an opportunity to step outside your norm and have fun with different patterns and styles. Avant Garde, Brimar, and Maxwell all offer great quality selections when it comes to finding the finest fabrics. As for rugs, Chandra, Feizy, or Nourison are sure to have a piece that’ll capture your eye. Go with what feels right and don’t be afraid to throw in your own twist! All that matters is that your space makes you feel good and comfortable.

4. Personalize

Want a room to feel more like you? Add in some art pieces or framed photographs that bring you inspiration. There’s nothing like being able to lift your spirits just by looking around the room. It’s also an easy way to fill up empty space––especially on walls. Displaying items that announce your own personal style is a sure way to elevate a space.

5. Add some life into the mix

Plants are a great way to make a space feel livelier. There are plenty of different types to choose from. Not ready for the upkeep of a plant? No problem. There are several kinds of artificial plants that do just as good of a job. A touch of greenery is a fun way to change the tone of a space!
